Clingman’s Dome is the highest point east of the Mississippi river. The drive is long and winding but had great views of the Smoky Mountains. After you park, you have a paved but steep hike to the top, then a ramp up to a tower. The views are great and the air is crisp. It’s worth the drive and the hike. Bring a jacket as it’s much colder and windy up there.
