Internet Dominator 2003 – 2005 (Louisville, KY)

This start up was an ASP/”outsourced IT department” company. We focused on smaller businesses that needed full IT support but could not justify a full IT staff or resources. We helped smaller companies through the growth period until they were able to convert and build an in house IT department. We provided application and file server support, technology planning and website, email, electronic marketing and server co-location. We installed, supported, managed and built solutions around the Internet, Windows and Linux servers, network connectivity and security systems. As the Dot Com market changed so did the stability of Internet Dominator.

bCatalyst – 2001 – 2003 (Louisville, KY)

We provided funding, leadership, office space, Information Technology, advertising assistance, additional round funding etc. I provided the regular IT services for the micro companies and helped them plan there initial years of budgeting and general infrastructure development and expansion estimations. Desktop, Application and File servers, VoIP, Internet, Email and Internet presence were part of the core services we provided to the start up companies. We made every effort to allow the “hosted entrepreneur” to focus on their business idea/plan and keep the passion moving forward while we managing the “everyday” business needs.

I was hired as the 4th employee of this start up as the network administrator. This position increased in responsibilities as the company grew. I eventually managed all aspects related to internal computer (Desktop/Sservers) and network related elements.  Starting with one office leading to over 6 Internet VPN branch locations with the national call center in Louisville. This was a very fast growth company and I was able to guide and provide quality technical solutions for HSA from the beginning to the final sale to Charter Cable. This was a great place to work and the team spirit was everywhere.

Henry Vogt Machine Company 1996 – 1998 (Louisville, KY)

I was hired with Henry Vogt to migrate the Tube-Ice division off the multi division IBM mainframe and onto a Windows NT network.  Building Servers and desktops that provided server and network solutions to support the financial, computer aided drafting, manufacturing, shipping, remote worker, web presence etc for this multi building International Ice Machine manufacturing company. It was here I learned how the business depends on and can utilize Information Technology to succeed. I leaned on my customer support skills to educate and host classes to educate the office employees through the Terminal to PC transition.

Comsol 1995 – 1996 (Champaign Urbana, IL)

Comsol provided “white box”/”clone” desktop and servers for businesses exclusively. Focusing on bussinesses we could providing the lowest cost and fastest turn around for large orders. We grew from a 2 person shop into a 5 person staff before I left the company (selling my half) to move to Louisville Kentucky. Comsol was a great place to work as it was full of “team” workers and we always provided the very best possible service and end results. We regularly filled 20-40 system orders and helped install the desktops in the business locations during off hours. This was an exciting time in the industry as things were moving fast and progressing in dynamic steps.

Apex Systems 1994- 1995 (Champaign Urbana, IL)

I was the lead PC technician for Apex. We provided new PC builds and break fix repair for walk in style customers. This was a really good learning experience on both the computer side and customer support etiquette. We would work with angry, sad, confused and excited customers, ranging from complete data loss of important information to joy of new PC upgrades. I would make sure the system was built to the requirements and was tested. I managed the inventory and RMA process for the defective hardware along with opening or closing the store front as needed. I enjoyed working here as I was able to “flex” my troubleshooting abilities.

UOM 1993 (Champaign Urbana, IL)

I started as an entry level copier repair technician and after passing various repair tests and showing an aptitude with logic, I was promoted to service technician performing on site repairs for the smaller copiers and fax machines. Daily I would travel in “my” company repair car stocked with supplies and common replacement parts for the various machines we serviced. Driving all over central Illinois making sure schools and small businesses could make copies and send/receive faxes. Monthly I would service the coin operated copiers located in various grocery stores and mall locations in our region. I would collect the change, perform preventive maintenance and verify the copiers serviceability. I learned to be self relent, provide work/repair quotes for customers and to be prepared with the right equipment to service the machines efficiently, paying attention to details and watching out for irregularities that may cause a system to fail .

Skills, strong suites and experience:

I have over 16 years of dedicated computer professional experience. I have managed many fast paced environments and high stress situations. I understand the necessity of quality service and the importance of fully comprehending interdependent relationships. Leading people a natural trait and helping others find success is very rewarding. I can trouble shoot situations and locate errors in logic flow and help provide alternative options for complex problems. I have good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.

The dreaded week points, places I can/need to improve:

I need to improve my documentation dedication. I’m ready to improve “paperizing” (new word) project plans and get more of my “vision” where others can read it. I need to improve controlling passion, some times I’m slightly over animated and need to learn tolerance for situations that are not ideal. I need to learn that I can fix all things in time with slight pressure and I don’t have to fix everything myself or immediately.
